Google AdSense and Optimization
AdSense is an advertising program run by Google. Website
owners can enroll in this program to enable text and image
advertisements on their sites. These ads are administered by
Google and generate revenue on a per-click basis.
Google AdSense is a fast and easy way for website publishers
of all sizes to display relevant Google ads on their
website's content pages and earn money. Because the ads are
related to what your visitors are looking for on your site —
or matched to the characteristics and interests of the
visitors your content attracts — you'll finally have a way
to both monetize and enhance your content pages.
What Kind of Ad’s we can Place?
We can place either
-
Text Ads
-
Image Ads
-
Link Units
-
Referral Buttons
We can place up to three ad units per page (in addition to
one link unit and one referral button per product).
Multiple ad units may prove particularly successful for:
-
Pages with lots of text, requiring users to scroll down the
page.
-
Forum or message board pages, particularly within threads.
-
Pages where only smaller ad formats (such as the 125 x125
button) will fit.
Color palettes
There's no hard and fast rule about which color combination
are most successful. In general, it's best to attract, not
distract: Select colors that strike a balance between
drawing user attention and overshadowing the site content.
Ad Format Performs Best
Wider Ad Format Performs Best because Wider ad formats let
users read more text at a glance without having to skip a
line and return to the left margin every few words.
Google AdSense Optimization
The best placement for Google ads varies from page to page,
depending on content.
Certain locations tend to be more successful than others.
The ideal placements are shown on a sample page layout. The
colors fade from dark orange (strongest performance) to
light yellow (weakest performance). All other things being
equal, ad placements above the fold tend to perform better
than those below the fold. Ads placed near rich content and
navigational aids usually do well because users are focused
on those areas of a page.
Use text ads and not image ads
People usually don't pay much attention on the image banners. In this case it is proven that text ads perform better. So use text ads and get better click-throughs.
Use channels to monitor your ads performance
Use vertical ads and not horizontal
Using vertical ads will bring you more hits, why? Because all traditional ads have been horizontal on internet, 468x60 banners being the pioneers, and people tend to ignore them which is called banner blindness. However when you put a vertical ad on your page "banner blindness" is not that high unlike horizontal ads.
Use relevant page titles for each page
Do not put the same Page Title throughout your site, rather give different Page Titles for every page according to the content of the page. Keep your Page Titles short and meaningful. Putting too long titles might get your website banned from many search engines, so be careful. Keep the content of the page specific, allocate one page for one topic if possible that way your Google Ads will be more relevant to the content of the page. When you have closely related ads on your page, users are more liekely to click on them.
