The Process
Telephone/fax Check Conversion differs from POS based conversion because a paper check is not available at the point-of-sale. The check information and authorization is obtained from the customer over the phone or by fax. The transaction is then entered using either Global eTelecom’s web interface, or the merchant’s own point of sale software. The transaction is transmitted via one of four methods (FTP, Dial-up, internet, or email) to a verification database where it is evaluated against bank routing number, account, and negative information. If the information is entered via the web interface, within seconds a response is sent back to the merchant. The check information is then stored and the transaction deposits are routed to the merchant’s account within 48 to 72 hours.
Merchant Benefits
This check conversion process allows merchants to accept checks without the check actually being present. Merchants simply obtain written authorization via fax and then enter the check data - the check conversion process does the rest! Merchants can now accept & process checks via telephone or fax, just like they accept & process credit cards.

This program offers the same electronic check conversion, 24x7 on-line transaction viewing and customized detailed reporting as our Electronic Check Conversion program. The advanced reporting capabilities of this system also allow more sophisticated merchants to take advantage of custom reporting delivery methods to automate the entire data collection process. Tip: When researching prices, keep this fact in mind: Internet/Mail-Phone Order checks tend to have a higher rate of returns then traditional checks.. Some companies may charge less per check but charge much higher fees on returns.
